Discover Monet’s Passion, Saturday, June 25, at 6:30 p.m., when celebrated author Elizabeth Murray will talk about Monet’s color theories, design elements and use of light and shade, along with development and maintenance of Monet’s estate. New, this adjunct event to VAA’s 21stannual six-garden, Garden Tour weekend (June 25-26) will include French wine and cheese tasting and book signing.
Perhaps best known for helping restore Monet's gardens and photographing them for 25 years, Murray lived and worked in the gardens at Giverny for a year, in exchange for room and board. This experience set her life on a course she would never have imagined. Her photos have traveled with Monet's paintings to eight museums and are published in annual calendars. Her presentation will offer ideas, inspiration and insights into the painter's gardens from the new 20th Anniversary edition of her book Monet’s Passion.
Using her enchanting photographs, personal stories, garden metaphors and warm humor, Murray delights and inspires those who attend her talks. Her photographs capture the charm and vivid color of Monet's amazing gardens, sometimes called his ‘living canvas.’ For more information about Elizabeth Murray’s publications, photography and art go to: ElizabethMurray.com.
