Bank of America to close Vashon Island Branch

With a decline in transactions at the Vashon branch and customers increasingly relying on other banking options including mobile and online banking . Bank of America will be closing it's Vashon Island Branch September 20, 2013.

The Vashon Loop contacted Bank of America about this change and how it might impact Islanders that use their banking services. Britney Sheen, SVP, Media Relations Manager, Bank of America, sent the Vashon Loop this statement regarding the closure of the Branch. " After careful consideration, we have decided to close our Vashon Island banking center on September 20, 2013.  Customer letters will be mailed May 24, 2013 to give them ample time to become familiar with another location, including our West Seattle banking center that is 9 miles away or our Westgate banking center in Tacoma approximately 13 miles away. Additionally, for day-to-day transactions after 9/20, customers can utilize our telephone, online and mobile banking products and services.

In regard to the issue you raised over concerns that our mortgage customers may have about not being able to address their needs or concerns with the bank, let me say that we take our role in helping homeowners who need assistance very seriously, and we are proud to have helped more than 24,485 customers in Washington avoid foreclosure since 2008.
